JPG to PNG Converter
Convert JPG photos to lossless PNG for editing or apps that require PNG.
Why convert JPG to PNG?
Converting to PNG stops further quality loss: every time a JPG is edited and saved again it's re-compressed, while a PNG is saved exactly as it is. That makes PNG a good working format if you'll edit an image several times.
Converting won't bring back detail that JPG compression already removed, and the PNG will usually be larger. A JPG's white background also stays white — PNG allows transparency, but it isn't created automatically.
Frequently asked questions
- Will converting to PNG improve quality?
- No. It preserves the image exactly as it is now, but it can't restore detail lost when the JPG was created.
- Why is the PNG so much larger?
- PNG stores every pixel without lossy compression. For photos that's often 3–10 times the size of a JPG — expected, and the price of lossless storage.
